About Stephanie Sisson, MSW, LICSW, SEP

I received my master's degree in social work from UCLA in 1996 and have worked with people of all ages facing a wide range of challenges and conditions. For over ten years, I worked exclusively at The Samarya Center, teaching yoga and using a yoga-based therapy approach called Integrated Movement Therapy®. I was the clinical supervisor, the lead IMT trainer and also a yoga teacher trainer.

I completed the Somatic Experiencing® training in 2013 and assisted in these trainings for a number of years. SE is a body-based approach to working with trauma. I have also trained with Kathy Kain and Steve Terrell in using physical or intentional touch to work with trauma, specifically early developmental trauma.

I have worked with people dealing with a wide range of issues and challenges, from depression to recovery from childhood abuse, from anxiety to chronic pain and health conditions. I am warm and accepting and am able to connect with people of all backgrounds, ethnicities, sexual orientations, genders and religions. I bring patience, humor and curiosity to therapy sessions and enjoy working with folks who have tried traditional talk therapy before but it hasn't totally worked for them. I love my work.

I am a member of the National Association of Social Workers and a licensed independent clinical social worker in the state of Washington.
