About Stephanie Sisson, MSW, LICSW, SEP

I received my master's degree in social work from UCLA in 1996 and have worked with people of all ages facing a wide range of challenges and conditions. For over ten years, I worked exclusively at The Samarya Center, teaching yoga and using a yoga-based therapy approach called Integrated Movement Therapy®. I was the clinical supervisor, the lead IMT trainer and also a yoga teacher trainer.

I completed the Somatic Experiencing® training in 2013 and assisted in these trainings for a number of years. SE is a body-based approach to working with trauma. I have also trained with Kathy Kain and Steve Terrell in using physical or intentional touch to work with trauma, specifically early developmental trauma. This is the focus of my work now.

I have worked with people dealing with a wide range of issues and challenges, from depression to recovery from childhood abuse, from anxiety to chronic pain and health conditions. I am warm and accepting and am able to connect with people of all backgrounds, ethnicities, sexual orientations, genders and religions. I bring patience, humor and curiosity to therapy sessions and enjoy working with folks who have tried traditional talk therapy before but it hasn't totally worked for them. I love my work.

I am a member of the National Association of Social Workers and a licensed independent clinical social worker in the state of Washington.
